Ingredients for Saffron Kladdkaka

  • 2 dl (about 0.85 cups) wheat flour
  • 100 g butter
  • 100 g white chocolate
  • 1.5 dl (about 0.63 cups) granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 g Genuine Ethical Swedish Saffron

Making Gluten-Free Saffron Kladdkaka

To make it gluten-free, use 1 dl almond flour + 1 dl coconut flour with coconut flakes instead of wheat flour. A gluten-free flour mix can also be a great substitute.

Enhancing the Flavor

While we recommend trying with the given amount of saffron, feel free to double it for an extra rich taste. For an additional flavor boost, try adding some lemon juice or vanilla extract.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (347°F).
  2. Grease a 22 cm (about 9 inches) diameter baking pan, preferably with a removable bottom.
  3. Melt 100 g of butter in a saucepan, then remove from heat. Chop or break 100g of white chocolate and add it to the butter. Stir in 0.5g of saffron.
  4. In a bowl, whisk 2 eggs with 1.5 dl of sugar. Mix in the melted butter, then fold in the flour.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 20 minutes. For an extra gooey texture, bake for no more than 18 minutes.

Best Accompaniments

Saffron Kladdkaka pairs wonderfully with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For added luxury, serve with lingonberries, raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries. A glass of milk or red wine also makes a delightful accompaniment.
